Best Breweries In San Diego
Happy September 1st! With the pandemic going on, I know no one wants to be out exploring breweries. However, these are awesome places to check out once everything is safe again!
We all know it's no secret San Diego has fantastic beer. With over 150 breweries in the area, I narrowed it down to MY Top 10:
Modern Times
This employee-owned brewery now has 8 locations! If you’re in Point Loma craving great coffee and beer, The Lomaland Fermentorium is for you! If you are in North Park and stopped by Underbelly for some bomb ramen, The Flavordome is right next door, check it out!
2. Border X Brewing
You must visit Barrio Logan for their tasty food and culture! While you’re there walk on over to this brewery, famous for their Mexican Craft Beer! They host Loteria nights, Michelada Jarritos and brew tasty beers like Horchata Golden Stout and Gran Jefe!
3. Ballast Point
Founded in 1996 by Jack White, this brewery began in San Diego but can now be found on the east coast in CHICAGO! The Sculpin IPA is a must or grab a flight and try them all! Notice their artwork contains nautical or fish images all created by one man, Paul Elder.
4. Karl Strauss
Karl Strauss began with two cousins and a dream to create the best craft beer. With over 115 awards and counting this brewery is a must when visiting San Diego.
5. Pizza Port Brewing Co.
Delicious pizza and beer. What more can you ask for?
6. Stone Brewing Co.
San Diego loves Stone, in fact they added a location in the San Diego International Airport (Terminal 2). Whether you are landing or departing be sure to stop by.
7. AleSmith
Visit AleSmith’s massive indoor and outdoor seating area, with plenty of beers to try! And if you’re a fan of the Padres or baseball, don’t forget to visit their Tony Gwynn Museum.
8. Belching Beaver
If you are in North Park, check out Belching Beaver and the beautiful San Diego Mural on the side of the building.
9. Green Flash Brewing Co.
Warehouselike tasting room pouring craft brews, with a beer garden & rotating food trucks outside!
10. Alpine Beer Company
About a 30 minute drive from San Diego, but definitely worth it. You can sit outside, enjoy nature and fantastic beer.
All breweries are linked in each title. Enjoy!
